We Are a Green Company
Going green is the way to go these days — especially when it comes to the disposal industry. Here at Disposal Queen, we take the 3Rs of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle seriously. It seems the rest of the country does too. Canadians generate about 31 million tonnes of garbage per year and only recycle about 30 percent of that, with the rest going to incinerators and landfills. And with 10,000 landfill sites in Canada, the problem is only growing.
Why do we need to make changes?
Disposal Queen, a small and fast-growing company working in the disposal industry, knows first hand that the effects of human waste on Mother Nature can be far-reaching and harmful to our planet. Millions of trees are cut down to make paper and billions of bottles go unrecycled every year.
That’s why we work hard to make changes in our industry by becoming a leader in green practices. Strides are being made, however, throughout Canada. The Canadian Plastics Industry Association says the number of recycling programs that accept and recycle plastic packaging has grown to the largest ever in 10 years, according to Recycling Today.
We strive to be environmentally friendly, most notably through a new fleet of garbage trucks that utilize natural gas. In addition, we perform selective garbage collection (organic, garbage and cardboard) and send those materials to recycling centres whenever possible. We try to avoid adding garbage to the landfills as much as we can. With Canada producing 777 kilograms of garbage per citizen compared with an average of 578 kg produced by the 17 countries studied, the statistics are sobering. And while the recycling rate is at an all-time high of about 35 percent, it’s still a fact that the rest is incinerated or sent to a landfill.
Disposal Queen is a customer-focused company, committed to providing a better customer service experience. Here are just a few ways in which we achieve that:
- No long-term contracts required
- No fixed-term agreements
- No hidden fees
- Transparent billing
Our company is committed to ensuring sustainability, which is essentially the ability to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The major way we can do that is to recycle as much as we can of our clients’ garbage. Our trucks run on natural gas, our goal is to help our customers reduce their carbon footprint when it comes to a waste disposal environment.
